A lifelong commitment to engagement and impact.

Our mission is simple.

The Hutchins Family Foundation (HFF) was established by Debbie and Glenn Hutchins to manage the process by which the family decides what to support and how to engage.

Our approach is simple: we support causes and institutions we believe in, with an emphasis on helping the disadvantaged and fostering excellence.

We have focused our efforts in the fields of African-American research, economic policy design, social justice training, community engagement and global humanitarian work.

In carrying out our mission, we seek to have the greatest impact in the shortest period of time with the most efficient use of our resources. We insist that the outcome of our work is as tangible, measurable, and valuable as possible. We avoid spreading ourselves thin by concentrating on a small number of projects in which we are deeply involved as decision-makers.

We only support initiatives that have personal meaning to our family members and do not evaluate unsolicited requests.

Glenn and Debbie’s support of the Hutchins Center constitutes the largest cumulative commitment to the field of African American Studies in philanthropic history.
